Friendship
One of the biggest benefits BUDS offers is the opportunity to meet other families with similar interests as yours, and thereby establishing friendships. These friendships are formed between parents and siblings of the children with Down Syndrome and, more importantly, between the children themselves.
A common concern of many parents is whether or not their children will establish valuable, long-lasting friendships. For this reason BUDS has established monthly social events and sponsors ongoing programs through Special Olympics sports.
All of these events have the goal of bringing together our members in order to facilitate lasting, life-long friendships.

Special Olympics Sports Teams Sponsored by BUDS
BUDS sponsors New Jersey Special Olympics (SONJ) teams in the sports of soccer, golf, basketball, and bocce ball. If you’re interested in coaching a new team (or a different sport), feel free to email Nancy Hennefer. All of our BUDS teams are coached by parents and require a commitment to be present at all practices and games.
